This Salubria Manor House Wedding is both elegant and moody. This styled wedding tells a story of the past featuring a Monique Lhuiller gown and a venue drenched in American history.
Built in the 1700s, Salubria is a Georgian-style manor house. With many of the home’s original details still intact today. With ample windows, imperfect paint, and capped chimneys, the design of the home takes us back to the days forgotten. What you’ll find inside the home is weathered texture that effuses colonial character. Consequently making Salubria a piece of Virginia’s history that hearkens its visitors back to back to another era.
Befitting the venue’s bygone era and also pulling on the inspiration of aged details, chic florals, and vintage film were used to create a nostalgic editorial.
Salubria Manor House’s abundant history and detail are surely only rivaled by its rumors of hauntings. It is widely believed that the home continues to be haunted because many of its former residents still roam the house. Subsequently making it one of the top haunted locations in Virginia.
Thinking about planning your vintage-style wedding on film? It would be an honor to make your dreams come true!
Knowing its haunted history helped play a role in how I envisioned the end result of this shoot. As I shot these images, I pictured the bride’s spirit roaming the halls. I also imagined that she existed trapped in her love story. Only able to float between life and the afterlife while trapped in an endless state of longing. Thus creating a layer of depth and complexity to the story that the photos tell. Furthermore, the photos below were all captured using a selection of 3 vintage film cameras.
In the present day, Salubria Manor offers full use of its historic grounds for couples who would like to add a piece of Salubria’s history to their wedding day. The grounds are also immaculately maintained to provide the aesthetic of a vintage-style wedding. While the grounds of the estate are commonly used for weddings they can also be used for other types of photoshoots and events. Guests are also welcome to use the grounds for engagement photoshoots, vow renewals, and family reunions.
