Villa del Balbianello is located on a steep wooded promontory, making this villa secluded and only accessible by private boat, or about a 20 minute walk in from the nearest parking lot. Can you imagine the experience of arriving on your wedding day by boat? Upon your arrival, the wrought iron gates of the villa will open and set the precedence for an enchanting and whimsical wedding day. Your guests will arrive setting eyes on the villa, which looks as if it is rising out of the water.
This Lake Como villa is not without its scenery. You’ll find sycamores among classical Italian statues that line the picturesque path leading to the loggia. In the spring and summer months, you’ll find magnolias, azaleas, rhododendrons, and hydrangeas in full bloom. Making each corner of Villa Del Balbianello illustrious. Thus providing a backdrop for incredibly detailed wedding photos that are full of emotion.
Your Wedding at Villa del Balbiannelo in Lake Como, Italy
The whole complex of Villa del Balbiannelo consists of two residential buildings, a church, and a portico overlooking the dock. Staged furnishings set the main entrance of Villa del Balbiannelo. All of which date back to the 17th and 18th centuries. However, while the villa provides rooms for their couples to get ready on the day of their wedding, they do not offer rooms for their couple or their guests to sleep in. But, there are many neighboring accommodations that you can check in to. In fact, The Grand Hotel Tremezzo is highly recommended for those who need overnight accommodations.
The church on the grounds of the villa is not a consecrated church. Thus making it unavailable for wedding ceremonies. However, civil, symbolic, and non-Catholic wedding ceremonies can be performed. For civil ceremonies, you have the option of outdoor or indoor locations, which will be dependent on the weather. Above all, civil weddings at the villa are legally binding marriages. And the villa’s in-house wedding planner will assist you with all of the legal requirements necessary for your union. Wedding ceremonies may take place on the lakefront terrace. Or conversely, in the garden. However, do not overlook the villa’s loggia. In essence, it is a breathtaking archway and an architectural marvel. Because it is set upon the highest point of the villa’s garden it provides magnificent views.
Your guests will be delighted by cocktail hour! Apertifs can be served in the garden & terrace near Loggia Durini. Or, the garden & terrace near Loggia Segré. Or lastly, in Loggia Segré itself!
For wedding receptions of up to 40 guests, you may choose to set up under the Loggia. Here you can illuminate your wedding reception with cafe lighting which will reflect over the serene waters of Lake Como! The elegant Loggia Segré can accommodate wedding receptions with up to 80 seated guests. With floor-to-ceiling windows, your guests will enjoy full views of the lake and garden as they dine! Large wedding receptions of up to 150 guests may take place on the lakefront terrace. However, the lakefront terrace requires a marquee and a wooden floor. The villa also allows fireworks to close out the night of your wedding!
If you have fallen in love with Villa del Balbianello, but a ceremony & reception is out of your reach, you have the option of scheduling a photoshoot on the grounds! Villa del Balbianello is the only venue on Lake Como that offers the option of a private, nonwedding day, photoshoot. This is purely due to the nature of their open tour grounds.
