St Francis Hall is a DC Wedding Venue with old-world charm, and expansive gardens. This venue features soaring voluminous ceilings, open wood beams, and arched windows. Affixed beside a beautiful garden oasis, St. Francis hall can accommodate up to 200 guests.
St Francis Hall is a ministry of the Franciscan Custody of the Holy Land, a province of the Order of Friars Minor, a Roman Catholic religious order. Subsequently, all proceeds from the rental of St Francis Hall support the work of the Friars in Washington DC. As well as the surrounding communities. The hall is located adjacent to the Franciscan Monastery in the Brookland neighborhood of northeast Washington, DC.
St Francis Hall is a hidden gem. Originally constructed in 1937 St Francis Hall features a rare look at Renaissance architecture combined with classic beauty and modern-day amenities. The hall’s high ceilings create an undeniably beautiful setting for any wedding day. Paired with Chiavari seating and atmospheric cafe lighting hung high above your guests, the atmosphere of your wedding will certainly be that of whimsy and charm.
In addition to the expansive hall, St Francis also boasts a beautiful, ample garden. Accordingly providing an ideal setting to host your cocktail hour or to use as a backdrop for your wedding photos.

Nonetheless, they provide the perfect setting for couples and bridal parties to utilize for portraits. Especially in the springtime when the blooms are flourishing. Also, the hall makes its covered terrace overlooking the scenic fish pond available to couples and their guests. Walking through the magnificently picturesque colonnaded cloisters will surely evoke a humble feeling of overwhelm. Above all, St Francis Hall is the perfect venue for any couple wishing to marry in the city away from the hustle and bustle.
Your St Francis Hall Wedding Day
All in all, St Francis hall can accommodate up to 200 guests. Your wedding day reservation will be confirmed with the following: a signed contract, 50% payment of the rental fee, and a refundable security deposit of $750. Your final payment as well as any required insurance documentation will be due 30 days prior to the day of your wedding.
The rental of this venue comes with the following amenities:
- 8 hours of event time (5 hours of event time, 2 hours for set up, 1 hour for clean up ).
- You can add additional time to your day at the rate of $600 per hour
- Beautiful overhead decorative lighting
- Use of the hall’s audio, visual, and sound equipment (cordless microphones & 12×12 projection screen)
- Full catering kitchen
- Access to the Monastery’s grounds for photos
- Free parking, including the use of the lot across the street from the hall
- Use of the covered terrace overlooking a scenic fish pond
- Access/use of the private lawn adjacent to the hall
- Use of beautiful private apartment overlooking the hall as a bridal suite
Rental fees are as follows:
- Fridays – $7,000
- Saturdays – $9,000
- Sundays – $7,000
- Weekdays – Please inquire
- Holiday Weekends – $1000 increase**
- In December & early March, the rental fee is reduced by $1000
- In January & February, the rental fee is reduced by $2000
**Holiday weekends include Memorial Day, 4th of July, Labor Day, and Columbus Day**
You are welcome to host your wedding ceremony on the private lawn adjacent to the Hall. However, wedding ceremonies are not permitted in the Chapel or Monastery gardens. Couples are required to work with the venus pre-approved list of caterers for wedding day meal selections. A list of preapproved caterers will be provided to couples upon request. Similarly, the venue has taken additional steps to ensure that all vendors have been properly vetted. Thus providing their couples with options at different price points and varying cuisines in order to suit your needs while assuring the success of your event. You are permitted to bring in your own alcohol, because of this, you will be provided with instructions for obtaining a one-day liquor license for your event.
There is strict enforcement of fire safety codes at St Francis Hall. Thus, pyrotechnic devices, smoke or fog machines, and open flames are not allowed. Candles may be used for decor only if they are securely fixed in a sturdy, approved candleholder. The glass structure of the candleholder must extend beyond the height of the flame. Any wedding day decor must meet prior approval, and silk flower petals are not permitted. Lastly, fire exits must be kept clear and accessible at all times, and smoking is not permitted.
