Dover Hall is a Wedding Venue located in the rolling equestrian countryside of Virginia! I spent some time shooting wedding photography at Dover Hall. As a result, I’m sharing an insider’s view and things you need to know about planning your wedding there, in the post below.

The Dover Hall Wedding Experience

Dover Hall is an English Tudor Revival Estate located in the lush countryside of Virginia. The venue provides a sophisticated experience of grandeur for any couple looking for a refined wedding day experience. The architecture of the estate brings the historical European aesthetic to the United States! The property was built as a lavish getaway reminiscent of the English countryside.

Nestled between Charlottesville and Richmond the estate is a 55-acre property and boasts 38,000 square feet! The grand size of Dover Hall allows you to entertain up to 400 guests. With a guest list that size you’ll choose from a slew of indoor and outdoor locations for your wedding ceremony. Optional ceremony locations include: the reflecting pool, grand ballroom, bluestone terrace, or the two-tiered garden!!

Everything you need is on-site! Dover Hall is what you would call a turnkey-style wedding venue. This means that they will provide you with all of the food and beverage choices needed for your day! Dover’s wedding day package includes a facility fee. That fee covers 12 hours of rental, and it covers the daytime use of the Queen Elizabeth suite.

Are you interested in the possibility of hosting a cocktail hour for your guests? If so, during your cocktail hour, your guests are welcome to explore the multitude of rooms at the estate. They’ll find themselves reveling in old-world decor while mingling and enjoying your drink of choice. But before you head off to cocktail hour, let’s talk about the getting-ready suite! The Queen Elizabeth Suite is located in a private foot wing of the house. As a result, it makes a perfect location for relaxing, and getting ready for the day! It’s really the ultimate bridal suite!

Lastly, there is one key point to note before planning your wedding at Dover. If you decide to hire a wedding planner, the venue requires that you only work with a planner who is licensed and insured. That is to say, you’ll have to be direct with your potential planner and ask if they are licensed and insured when you inquire.
