Cozy At Home Engagement Couples Photoshoot

Michael and Elise confessed to me how very shy they felt, and extremely uncomfortable it felt to have their engagement photos taken. One of the best ways to work with camera shy couples is to suggest an environment they can’t help but feel cozy in! For this unique engagement session, we decided to turn indoors and make this engagement session a cozy, indoor, at home session. There’s no place like home to put someone straight into their comfort zone. Without worrying about “posing” much, I asked Michael and Elise to lounge with each other on their big, comfy couch, right in front of the best window in their home. They held each other close and allowed the sweetness of their bond to come through.

One of the best things about being a wedding and couples photographer is being able to connect and understand my couples in order to understand everyone’s unique personality and needs. I listen to your story to create a plan of action to capture the real you – in this case, loving, affectionate and quiet. I’m so proud of these photos that really feel like “them”, and not a pose I told them to do, or a place they “had to go” to get nice photos taken. Sometimes simplicity is everything!
