This Bacchus Bistro Brooklyn wedding shot on film is from another time.
When a street photographer from Brooklyn approached me to shoot his wedding on all film, I was so excited. Film photography is back bigger than ever and it makes my heart sing. Stuffy posed work is going out of style as couples shift to loving more documentary-style images and the imperfect but timeless look of film cameras.
Olga & Jonathan’s wedding day began at the Ace Hotel. The bride and groom both have a style reminiscent of a time long past. Olga with her classic triple strand of pearls, a voluminous take on pin waves, and vintage-style sunglasses. Jonathan in his tailored suit, hand-grade detailed shoes, and imaginative pocket square from London. There were traditional getting ready moments and a first look at the Ace Hotel. But there were also timeless details and textured veil shots.
After the Ace Hotel, we took some photos along the Brooklyn waterfront. There is something so exhilarating about seeing a bride run through the streets of New York in her wedding dress. There were plenty of onlookers, but Olga and Jonathan were in a world all their own.
Bacchus Bistro a Vins in Brooklyn was host to their wedding ceremony and reception. Cafe lighting and florals with rich tones filled the patio while guests sat in rattan chairs as the couple was wed. Their reception was filled with rows of guest tables covered in crisp white linens as the sound of clinking glasses and laughter echoed through the night.
